Mayor Milsom recognized Police and Peace Officer’s National Memorial Day on Sunday, September 29 as well as National Truth and Reconciliation Day and Orange Shirt Day on Monday, September 30.
Mayor Milsom, on behalf of Council, thanked Ben Stewart for many years of service to our community as Kelowna-West MLA, Fire Chief Jason Brolund on receiving the King Charles the Third Coronation Medal for exemplary leadership in serving and protecting our community and Spring Hawes, who is a consultant on West Kelowna’s Accessibility and Inclusion Committee, for being awarded the medal for raising awareness for people living with disabilities. Mayor Milsom also acknowledged Domenic Rampone and Dr. Rhonda Nelson and their contributions to the community.
Council attended another successful UBCM conference held in Vancouver last week to advance strategic priorities that remain critically important to West Kelowna. Council met with the Minister of Housing, Minister of Forests and the Minister of Energy, Mines and Low Carbon Innovation, which was a joint meeting with the District of Peachland. Senior-level staff meetings included the BC RCMP and the Ministry of Transportation and Highways.
